Running Shoes

Running shoes are probably what most people mentioned when you are trying this healthy lifestyle as well. There are tons to choose from and all of them will give certain feedback to your feet and run whether it is used on the road or also on the muddy and rocky trails. It all depends on what type of running shoes you are wearing and where you will be running. In addition, just like any footwear the most important part will be the comfort. Looking for the most comfortable shoes can be quite tricky however since not all of them will feel the same and not everyone has the same foot size or shape like width and arch height. The best solution is to try them at stores but if you don’t have the time, we can at least measure the one that fits our feet the best. Measure the feet and use the longest or widest part to be the guide because our feet swell too during the day.

Finding the ideal running shoes can relate to the running application as well such as whether you will be running for long distance or short distance. The pace of your running and health will matter too because in general the faster you want to run, the more responsive the shoes must be. This is why fast pace shoes tend to be slightly firmer to give better control over your stride and also often made lighter too in order to improve the experience.

On the other hand, if you are going to run more leisurely such as during the weekend or walking fast but for a longer distance and for a longer time, the shoes need to be as comfortable as possible. Due to the strain of time, shoes made for this application tend to be softer too. The level of softness will vary however so not all “cushion” shoes are the same; some can be a little bit firm while some can give you a feeling like walking on a pillow.

Additionally, there are shoes for road and for rock or trail which are often not reversible or as versatile. The road shoes are often flatter in general with thicker and softer sole while the trail shoes are often light and durable but, the most important part is they are durable with thicker or prominent outsole in order to grip into the fairly loose surface. They are typically not great for road application as the stubs can cause some discomfort when striking the firm, flat surface.

About Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend

Now when you have decided which running shoes to buy or which of them will meet your application, it is time to see what the market has to offer. There will be plenty to consider based on what you are aiming for from the shoes and even so, our choice can vary widely since personal preference matters the most here. If you don’t have much time to browse around or just want to be convenient, we suggest getting the popular shoes based on your typical application.

Other similar runners can be a great help as well because you may like their choices too and it can save time by shaving the range of options. On the other hand we can also shop based on the budget or brand of your choice and among those options, Brooks is a good brand to shop from. We are sure most people are familiar with this running shoes brand already as they are one of the most popular choices too.

We personally like their running shoes because not only you can find plenty of them in the catalog which is always renewed but also because they are producing well-made, reliable shoes for almost any type of runner out there whether you prefer to run leisurely or planning to beat the previous record. For those running on road only, the Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend are two suitable shoes to consider. They are similar like most Brooks shoes you may have worn but not exactly the same.

We do think some people can already guess what Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend can offer based on the naming only and this is because Adrenaline is a pace based running shoes and it will surely pump your adrenaline at higher speed but, the latter has a more laid back origin which makes it great if you are going to run without having to worry about the pace and distance covered in the allocated time. In comparison, both are great choices but probably for different types of runners.

Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend Design

Before checking what these shoes can offer to you, let’s talk about the appearance first and for the note, we are comparing the Adrenaline GTS 20 to Transcend 6. When this comparison is made the Transcend 7 was already released but we choose this variant as it is more affordable, the same with GTS 20 which is almost 4 years old now. From the outside, the most prominent difference between these shoes is the upper material as it seems Transcends is softer and more breathable.

They look very robust with thick collars and from the upper these shoes seem to have a more proportional width or not too wide on the mid and forefoot which is great since ours are a bit on the narrow side as well. As for the weight, they are far from the lightest running shoes you can find out there and certainly not made to be a feather light as well with average weight above 300 grams and Transcend being the heavier shoe.

Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend Upper

Moving further let’s see what Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend can offer starting from the upper area first. As it has been mentioned earlier they seem to be using different upper material and this is because the mesh fabric used by Adrenaline is firmer so it can retain the shape better compared to what’s used in the Transcend even though it is also made of mesh material. Inside the shoes, Adrenaline has strips from the medial heel up to its laces and along the midfoot.

Both shoes have 3D Fit Print feature to remove the bulk while maintaining its support. The Transcend has this bicolor pattern that peeks through the holes on the forefoot that we personally are not really into yet it can be interesting for others. What we notice is that the tongue is equally plush but Adrenaline doesn’t connect it to the internal structure which is the opposite in Transcend. Another thing we love from these shoes is the heel support that feels soft and plush but still do their job properly.

Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend Sole

Next is for their sole which in our opinion sets Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend apart the most. Starting with Adrenaline, it still has the DNA Loft crash pad in the mid-to-lateral heel but now also tapers forward to gradually transition into the BioMoGo DNA foam for the rest of the sole. Combined with the GuideRails Holistic Support System, it is building a very streamlined system to support your stride and almost feels like keeping you to move forward as well.

You can find this GuideRails in Transcend that puts emphasis on the lateral heel so they work together with your upper heel. It has DNA Loft too on the midsole but the feeling they give here is soft and luxurious comfort. The first experience with the sole is they are very soft but once you step and run on them it gets firmer around the middle.

Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend Experience

Lastly is for the experience with Brooks Adrenaline and Transcend. We do think their upper are very similar but the tongue of Transcend is better at maintaining its place. These shoes are rather narrow so if you have a particularly wide foot, it can be a bit uncomfortable for the first few hours before they stretch. The feeling or Adrenaline sole is more responsive and firm than Transcend with its more laid back and soft bottom.

Brooks Adrenaline vs Transcend

These running shoes are amazing for their ability to meet your expectation of comfortable running shoes. Not only different from the appearance but they are also different depending on the feeling of the shoes and how you run with them. Overall, the Adrenaline is firmer and more responsive with a great feedback from the sole to your feet while on the other hand Transcend is very soft and cushiony but different from pillowy soft as there is still a little bit of firmness to it.
