Buying a Running Shoes

We love running because they are convenient and can be done almost anywhere as long as there is enough space to move your body. Many of us choose to run on the treadmill because it is easier to afford than having to go outside, especially those living in big cities where the pedestrian is too packed to navigate. However, if you can, we do think running outdoors, especially on trails is great both for the effort we spend and the view around your path.

Running on trails is also relaxing as we are far from noisy roads so it can be great for our mental health too. But, whether you choose to run on a treadmill, around the neighborhood, or on a trail, we will need running shoes. This equipment is not a must but they will be extremely helpful for the activity. We don’t need to spend so much as well because there are plenty of affordable running shoes that still work really well.

To help you select one, it is wise to know what you will want to use the shoes for and how your feet can fit in the shoes first. Do check the measurement of your feet and in case the right and left are not exactly the same, we should go for the larger one. If you can try the shoes first, such as when buying directly at the store, don’t be shy to try it. Make sure there are no spots that get uncomfortable inside the upper and sole.

Think about where you will run with the shoes because we may have different preferences about the terrain. For those who only run on the road, choosing light and flexible shoes will be ideal as they will cushion and stabilize the foot over repetitive movement. You will notice the shoes made for this application have a flatter and smoother soles for the consistent surface of paved roads. On the other hand trail runners usually have bigger lugs and you can feel them being stiffer as well through the midsoles.

Because the shoes are meant to shield and cushion your feet, do consider their sole too when buying one. There are many shoes designed to be plush and soft for the comfort value and are perfect for a laid back or long distance runner while in general the more responsive shoes are perfect for a fast pace runner. Do consider your feet as well and how you strike the ground. Typically heel drop of 10mm will be ideal for heel striker while flatter shoes are meant for mid-foot striker.

About Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000

It is best to get shoes that will fit on your feet the most since it also means comfort and when comfortable we can run faster or for longer. There are more than plenty to choose from based on your preference. Shoes often come with the specs so you can check on them to make sure the option is already correct. If you just want to be convenient, we can see what similar runners are opting for since high chances you will like them too.

So many running shoes are coming from popular brands and it is easy to find them such as Asics with their wide range of comfortable running shoes. You can check the collection of Nike as well such as the Nike Pegasus Vs Winflo depending on which sounds more interesting or matches the preference. Nike is extremely famous for their lifestyle sneakers while Asics is well-known for their comfortable running shoes with various options to consider.

For those who just want comfy shoes without much fuss and ideal for a short distance or as daily trainers, we do think the Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 will be two interesting models to try. These shoes are far more affordable than the typical Nimbus but you kind of still feel some similar experience when wearing one. The GT line is mostly composed of affordable running shoes and thus, they should be perfect for a wide range of runners.

In comparison however, they are not the same and we actually like the GT 1000 better for the reason of being more affordable and surprisingly more comfortable when used for running as well. However, the GT 4000 is not a bad shoe by any means and we do think it is a great choice for most runners who just want a stability that also works for neutral users. This shoe seems to work well for both worlds as it replaces the GT 3000 in the line.

Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 Appearance

Before getting into what the Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 can offer, let’s take a look into the shoes first. It is probably subjective but we often shop based on how the shoes look as well and in comparison the GT 1000 is more attractive in our opinion. The design of these shoes are similar but they are not identical and probably because of the mesh material, GT 1000 is more streamlined, neat and looks slimmer. The mesh of GT 4000 seems to be thicker on the other hand.

These shoes also look chunkier but the surface of this material is very soft to touch. The construction of the shoes seem to be very similar tooll and they are padded but this is common in typical stability shoes. The weight itself is slightly heavier on the GT 4000 but we are unsure whether most people can feel the difference since it is less than 30 grams.

Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 Upper

Now for the most important part, let’s see what the Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 can offer starting from their upper. As it has been mentioned above, the two are quite different here and in GT 1000, it is claimed to be their new engineered mesh. This material does feel tight when still new but still stretches over time. In comparison, both shoes have a very similar feeling when worn but GT 1000 feels a little bit loose on the midfoot.

The GT 4000 actually gives us a better fit and this is probably due to the medial post that reinforces the shoelace and adding some strength in this area. While the two are similar stability shoes, some people probably like the latter better for this feature. It locks the feet really well so if you are used to this type of support, we do think they will feel great.

Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 Sole

Next we want to talk about the sole of these shoes because they affect the ride and comfort at the same time. Starting with GT 1000, this shoe comes with AHAR carbon rubber and it is what you can find on many Asics shoes too. It is featured with DuraSponge in the forefoot which is a blown AHAR compound that will increase the flexibility of the shoes. On the midsole it is made with Flytefoam Lyte which is not as soft as the original material.

The gel cushioning is located on the rear near the heel area so you can get some shock absorption here that is great for energy return. On the other hand GT 4000 has Flytefoam Propel which seems to be bouncy. The whole sole actually feels rather firm with some bounciness while Duomax support on this variant makes sure that it is a good stability shoe that runs from the curve of the heel to the base. In addition, it has both Flytefoam lyte and Gel too.

Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 Experience

Lastly for the experience, both Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 are actually almost like the same shoes here. The sole should separate these shoes but they feel very similar under the feet. GT 4000 is slightly bouncier perhaps and we also think that these shoes feel more stable, probably due to the sole construction and the reinforcement on the upper. Overall from the ride GT 1000 is firmer compared to GT 4000 but they are equally great for heel strikers.

Asics GT 1000 Vs GT 4000

These shoes are perfect for any runners who want to have reliable shoes for their day to day training. The ride feel from Asics GT 1000 and GT 4000 are almost the same but we will choose GT 4000 as a stability shoe while the GT 1000 is more neutral and laid back in this category. They are good for faster pace however but we doubt they will feel good for longer runs since the material is not made for supreme comfort.
